As the Principal of Buckingham County Middle School, I am responsible for a $22 million facility, 46 staff members and a substantial office budget. There are many duties to this job including: overseeing all of special education, curriculum development, curriculum mapping, implementation of school board policy, interpretation of school board policy, parent-teacher associations, anti-bullying initiatives, teacher supervision, school programs and facilities.
Assistant Principal for Buckingham County Middle School 2006-2012
As an Assistant Principal, I was responsible for carrying out the Principal’s directives and following through on her vision. I was also responsible for our supervision of teachers, discipline of the students, anti-bullying programs, facilities, scheduling, crisis plan implementation, teacher fitness program, Accelerated reading program and curriculum mapping.
Principal for Buckingham County Summer School NK-12 Program 2007-2009
As the Principal for the summer program, I was responsible for the remediation progress of all students in the county. Duties included: distribution of room assignments, coordination of the 21st century grant, field trips, teacher supervision, student discipline, overseeing of bus discipline, supervision of the summer lunch program, building security and record keeping. We had an average of 12% student improvement during my time as Principal of the summer program.

As the Assistant Principal for the summer program, I was responsible for carrying out the principal’s directives and following through on her vision. Some of those duties included: student supervision, bus discipline, overseeing of the high school program, room assignments and input of summer school data.
Physical/Health Education teacher from 1998- 2006
As a Physical/Health Education teacher, I taught approximately 600 students a week. I went to three different primary/elementary schools in the county. My classes were 30 to 45 minutes in length and we used the blacktop area for our classroom. I made most of the physical education equipment myself because our County did not have the money to purchase a lot of elaborate equipment. I formulated reachable goals for my students and worked hard to achieve those goals. My duties included: providing a top-notch physical education program, doing so on a shoestring budget, keeping classroom discipline and motivation in an outdoor classroom, being flexible enough to move indoors at a moment’s notice, run a countywide field day program and ran a teacher wellness program.
Taught Special Education 1997-98
As a Special Education Teacher for Buckingham County Middle School, I taught 6-8th grade students. I also observed other special education classrooms following their best practices. There are many facets to the special education process. I had many duties. Some of my duties included: writing of IEP’s, interpretation of special education law, manifestation meetings, eligibility meetings, child study meetings, implementation of IEP’s in the classroom, lesson plans for special needs children, ran a social skills program for maladjusted children, and timelines.
Coach 1997-2014
As a sports coach, I had many responsibilities. Some of those responsibilities included: defensive coordinator, linebacker coach, special teams coach, lining of fields, putting away equipment, concussion awareness training, weight training coach, meeting with officials, handling of the press, running summer programs, making daily practice schedules, formulation of defensive of game plans and handling of player issues. As a Teacher in the summer school program, I had many roles. Some of those roles were: middle school math teacher, elementary reading coach, teacher of direct instruction, summer school science teacher and summer school physical education teacher. We were required to give a pretest assessment of all students in summer school. I had positive gains from over 84% of the students that I have taught in summer school.
Taught Driver Education 1998-2014
As a Driver Education Instructor for Central Virginia driving school, I followed the Virginia curriculum guide very closely. Some of the aspects of drivers’ education that I have taught are: parallel parking, interstate driving, merging, intersections, and backing.
Taught as a Home-bound instructor 1997-2000
As a Home-bound Instructor, I was required to go to the homes of suspended/special needs students that were not in school and eligible for home-bound services. I taught many subjects over the years. Some of those subjects included: reading, corrective reading, math on multiple levels, and English.
Associate Director for Karate College 1992-96
As an Associate Director for the “Worlds Greatest TKD/Karate Summer Camp” I had many duties. Some of those duties included: room organization, group room organization, scheduling, handling of merchandising, personal assistant to Dr. Jerry Beasley, and handling of talent, chauffeuring, set-up and clean up.
Taught a Weight Training Course 1994-1996
As a Weight Training Teacher at Radford University, I taught over 2400 Radford University students enrolled in the Wellness Lifestyles program. During that time, I had many duties. Some of those duties included: fitness testing for over 600 Radford University students, substituting in the self-defense section, teaching in the Wellness Lifestyles program in front of 250 students, formulating our own curriculum, lesson plans, and implementation of those plans and management of student discipline.
Worked as a Lead Carpenter (Class A Contractor) 1986 – 1994
As a Lead Carpenter for Bratton Construction, I was responsible for running a crew of men and building houses. During that time I had many duties. Some of those duties included: supervision of laborers, scheduling, use of heavy equipment, and use of all job tools and interpretation of blueprints.
